What is forest bathing?

Forest bathing as therapeutic and medical practice has its roots in 1980s Japan, when sensory overload in large cities increasingly affected people's health. Traffic noise, smog, hustle and bustle lead to growing depression rates and demand for accommodation to green recreational and resting places disappearing. Therapists acknowledged people's need for calm and nature and prescribed "Shinrin-yoku". Today, forest bathing is deeply rooted in Japan's health care system and enjoys rising popularity all over the world. Numerous studies show the benefits of "bathing in the atmosphere of the forest" with body and soul.

Program
  • Meeting in front of the Kaprun Center cash desks (Kitzsteinhornplatz 1a, 5710 Kaprun)
  • Ascending to the top station with the MK Maiskogelbahn
  • Short winter hike in the direction of the Unterbergalm hut
  • On the way – awareness, meditation and breathing exercises
  • Finishing off with home-made pine needle tea

Who is forest bathing for?
Theresa adapts the time together in the forest to suit the individual group's interests. If participants want to learn something about processing and using cones, needles and other forest ingredients, she'll focus on that. On a team-building outing, she'll take the interpersonal level into account. With kids and teens, forest bathing will be more playful. Hence, forest bathing is for people of all ages and backgrounds.

Forest bathing means – consciously diving into the atmosphere of the forest. It strengthens the immune system and helps with stress reduction.
